DESCRIPTION:FDTC General Meeting 7-8:30pm @ Gus Canty Center\, 790 Main Street\, Falmouth. \nAt its monthly meeting Thursday\, Sept. 10\, the Falmouth Democratic Town Committee will host an educational forum on the nine MA ballot questions on ballots November 3. The meeting will begin at 7 pm at Gus Canty Recreation Center\, 790 Main St. in Falmouth. Jonathan Cohn\, policy director of Progressive Massachusetts\, a statewide grassroots advocacy organization\, will explain the ballot questions and the organization’s endorsements. \nThe presentation will explain what each ballot question would do\, its statewide impact\, and the coalitions and funding behind both the yes and no campaigns. In July\, Progressive Massachusetts straw-polled its members on the ballot questions and brought back all questions with a clear supermajority position. Each endorsement required at least 60 percent\napproval from its membership. Cohn has been active in campaigns to expand voting rights\, strengthen immigrants’ rights\, and increase education funding. He has been a neighborhood team leader\, regional coordinator\, or campaign manager for various candidate campaigns and ballot initiatives at the city\, state\, county\, and national level. DESCRIPTION:The Falmouth Democratic Town Committee will host a timely and informative panel discussion about housing affordability on Cape Cod\, featuring Catherine Clark\, of the Housing Assistance of Cape Cod and Dan Gessen\, Falmouth’s representative to the Assembly of Delegates. The program will be held on Thursday\, August 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Gus Canty Center\, 790 Main Street\, Falmouth\, and via Zoom.\n\nThe mission of Housing Assistance of Cape Cod is to build a vibrant year-round community where everyone has a stable place to call home. As Vice President of Development\, Catherine Clark\, who grew up on Cape Cod\, brings more than a decade of non-profit leadership experience to her role. Ms. Clark will discuss housing through the lens of empowering individuals\, fostering community connections\, avoiding stigmas and increasing affordable housing opportunities.\n\nDan Gessen serves as Deputy Speaker at the Barnstable Assembly of Delegates\, working to build coalitions and lead Cape Cod’s regional government. Born and raised in Falmouth\, he graduated from Falmouth High in 2018; earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Public Policy from the University of Massachusetts Amherst\, followed by a Master’s Degree in Business Analytics from the Isenberg School of Management. He was commissioned as an Infantry Officer in the Massachusetts National Guard and as Infantry Platoon leader in the Army National Guard\, led soldiers in Iraq and Syria.\n.\nLike all FDTC general meetings\, the meeting is free and open to the public.
